I'm feeling pretty special this week! I was picked at Always Playing With Paper as "A Cut Above" ... so I'm feeling pretty lucky yet again!
_________________________________________________________
I've also had a chance to work on some crafting this morning and made some little bottle tags with my friend Kelly for a craft night we are doing next week! What I actually like best is we used the cut outs from the punch where the top of the water goes through as part of the decoration on the bottom... I love when you get to use up scraps like that!
This is the inspiration photo:
and here is my project ...
I've added the sour cream shaped treat containers I finished this morning (filled with candies if your curious :) ) and photographed them altogether. Michelle below mentioned a challenge blog that my project would fit (Thanks Michelle!) so I am very excited to find a challenge to enter it into because I didn't think I would. There are lots of great posts and projects on this new (to me :) ) site. Check it out! Off The Wall
Have a great day,
Laurie
I just love to craft and create ... when life and time allow. I know how much I enjoy seeing what other people make and create and I thought I would share what I do too! I've never blogged and I'm excited to start.

Because ... Some days you are the bug, and some days you are the window!
I was sitting here trying to think of something creative for two challenges and I had a bunch of pink paper left over from a card I made to send to a women who blogs who has breast cancer. So then it got me thinking. I have a family member who will celebrate 5 years in remission in November so I will create something for her. She is a very funny and outgoing lady and I thought I need to think of something a little out of the ordinary to put on it. So after staring at paper and embellishments for a bit (Kate and I would make a good crafting team ... sitting in silence staring at paper ;) ) I came up with this idea.
"Some days you are the bug and some days you are the window" ... I had read that somewhere (or something like that) and I think it fits the sketch at Just Add Ink and the animal (bumble bee and embosed puppy) at Fantabulous Cricut .

Love
This card seems to fit in with two challenges! I was inspired by the colours and rich tones over at Always Playing with Paper and I needed some ideas for a layout and came across a new site (well new to me!) called The Sweetest Thing
Make sure you check out both sites and join in! They are both great!

Thinking of You - Panda Card
I did this up for the Jitterbugin' challenge. I had to sit and stare at a few cartridges and some paper for a good 15 minutes before anything came to me, lol ... but eventually I came up with an idea! I really like the orange, it seems to pop on the black and white theme.

No crafting
So I didn't even lift a pair of scissors or glue yesterday. Saturday was very tiring and so I vegged out yesterday. Maybe tonight I will get around to it ... I've missed a few challenges I wanted to do though :(
ALSO my background disappeared and so I am going to try this one and it's layout for now until I find something a bit more crafty ...

Fantabulous Cricut
I got picked as a top 5 over at the Fantabulous Cricut blog so I am very excited! It's a fun blog with some great challenges for anyone who is a cricut person. Check it out here: Fantabulous Cricut Blog
I think I am going to get a chance to craft again this Sunday. Yay. I'm going to try and finish my Alaska book and try to join a few challenges again. I'm also hoping my Wall Decor and More cartridge shows up because I have some vinyl sitting here just waiting to be played with!!

Sweet card or layout?
So I had this idea for a card based on the challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Blog and I got cutting out pieces etc eventually making this WAY to big card. lol. It's made completly with "From My Kitchen" and it did turn out cute but I'm almost wondering if it should be turned into a layout. I could see it as a layout for sure. BUT on the other hand sending it as a bit of a joke to someone joking about there can never be too many goodies on your birthday etc would be fun. Well I think I will tuck it away and wait and see what event comes up that it might work for.

Change of scenery ...
Well I decided to go back to scrapbooking for a few days to try and finish up the album I have been making for my sister (and a duplicate for myself) of our cruise to Alaska. The cruise was over a year ago :( and I had only got about half way. Anyway I was having a home/work weekend (One of the reasons I love summer) and I got a few pages done, finishing her book and getting close on mine. Here are a few of my favorites.
In case it isn't obvious we were being silly in almost every photo! lol In the photos are me, my sister, my friend Kelly and her partner in crime Dave.
We really had a great time and doing up a few pages brought back some great laughs and memories.
I think the last is my favorite ... very clean but bright and cheery.

Reach For The Stars!
Hello All .. Friday night and I am happily crafting with my air conditioner ... although I have come to a conclusion! The air conditioner and glue dots are not friends ;) they lose their stick!
I did this card up for a challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary (CCMC106 - Sketch Challenge)
I am really happy with it and how, although different, it really does use their sketch!

Orange/Grey/Blue/Yellow Milk Jugs
Ok I promise I will try to stop making them for a day or two. TRY. :) I used the same stamps on these and turned it into a set of two (The double set is just two singles back to back). I really love the colours of this and think They just make the cutest gifts. I need to stop making them and maybe find someone to give them to for a bit! lol
Added a little matching card ...

Hello Kitty Color Throwdown Milk Jugs!
Hello All ... Oh it was so hot here today! Well for me it was so hot ... I don't do the heat well.
Anyway tonight I wanted to join the Color Throwdown Challenge (It's the 100th challenge celebration! and so I had to (HAD TOO!) make mini milk jugs, my new obsesion!
I had to use their colour theme, which stumped me at first, I went through my paper 3or 4 times and finally came up with these choices. I think I am a smidge "brighter" then there colours but they said you just had to use them as an example. So I did.
Anyway I found these adorable "sugar" and "100% sweet" stamps that I had and thought they would be perfect for filling the jugs with candy.
Another day where I get to craft ... I'm pretty happy and lucky!
Oh man I am supposed to be in bed ... I need to be up in 7 hours. BUT there I was brushing my teeth and thinking that project needs a matching card ... since it has no recipient yet I went generic on the sentiment but used up my scraps to make this little card!
Just incase your thinking to yourself "why did she make that giant card", I really didn't! lol it only stands about as high as the milk jugs. ;)

Have A Wonderful Day
I did this up with some paper I had sitting around for the Stamping 411 challenge 158. Another project in just a couple of days, I'm very happy with the amount of work I'm getting done! lol
Mini Milk Boxes
I'm so glad it's summer and I'm finding a little time almost everyday to work on a project or two!
I saw this project in the beautiful stamping up book and wondered if there would be a cut file for something like this for cricut. AND there was, yay! This lovely woman named Jen (check out her blog) made the file using George and Basic and she even made a carrier. So of course I had to try it myself!
This is my attempt and I am very happy. I think these will make the sweetest gifts!
Thanks so much for the great files and creative work Jen!
I wish I could think of a challenge right now that this would fit! lol

Card Challenges!
Soooo I am not really a pastel person ... I don't pick them out naturally and even for a baby card it's tough for me to be creative for some reason. So of course I wanted to challenge myself to try to use some pastel bits I had hanging around to make a nice little girls card. It turned out nice, I would definitely give it to someone (If I could think of someone I knew having a girl right now) but it's not me, it's not my colours and I know it.
SO I was sitting there looking at it and thinking "it's just fine Laurie, move on ..." when it came to me. I have friends that have been trying to adopt for years! So I thought what kind of card would I make for them. I scrounged through my paper, and little odds and ends and came up with this colour palette and the idea of a card that would be perfect for adoptive parents. "A Wish Came True" ... I wanted it to be very fairy tale/gypsy feeling and cheerful and I think it does those things! I used stamps to create pa terned card stock (The green, not the main pattern! :) ) and my cricut was a bit of help. I am really pleased overall.
This card fits a couple of challenges:

The baby shower
The baby shower went well. We had great weather and the decorations went over well. The mom-to-be was VERY pregnant is now off work until she is due so she was able to really sit back and relax I think. Overall it was a nice afternoon on Sunday.
I am working on a card for a challenge tonight ... I'm on lunch right now ... and I will hopefully have time to post it. I will also post the card I made a few weeks ago for my boyfriend but that I couldn't post because he might have seen it!
I was also doing some blog hoping last night and I am curious about the stamps that people colour in ... I am wondering if people use Copic (I think that's right) markers or actual ink from ink pads?? From what I can tell "Stampin' Up" people are are using ink. I am very curious about this and will need to do a bit of research.
Alright I shall post pictures later.

Baby flowers for the shower
My friend Kelly and I made these last night. She did up the little critters (We were trying to match the enchanted forest bedding that the mom-to-be has chosen) and I did up the flowers and we assembled like mad to get these done up for the baby show on the weekend. I'm not going to lie I think we both wished we could keep them ... lol. I have no use for one but I think they turned out really cute and should be great shower decorations!
