6 Months!

Well I was back to crafting this week. The only thing I have worked on since March was my sisters wedding invitations. I've been so busy with everything else in life that crafting took a back seat. I finally settled in to my new crafting space and re-organized it tonight and I feel a lot more inspired and a lot less crowded. So here are the few things I've done for my sisters wedding these past few months and if I get anything finished today I will post it too.

I'm going to try and look through lots of other people's blogs since I haven't had a chance to see all of the neat things people have been making lately.

Strong Like a Lion!

I was searching for another challenge to do and came to Sherri's Jitterbuggin' challenge site. I haven't played along in awhile so I thought I would use her design (plus yellow, stripes and a cricut cut) to come up with a card for Charlie. Charlie is a little boy suffering from EB and Nicole (who I found through the Jitterbuggin' site) is looking for anyone interested in making a card for this little boy and his family. This is Nicole's site HERE if you would like to make a card or read more about Charlie. Her card is what inspired my Lion and helped me to come up with my "be strong like a lion" theme.

I am also going to put this card up over at Fantabulous cricut, where there theme is all about support this week, in hopes that other people might get inspired to send this family a card.

This card is created on clear plastic with the actual opening for the sentiment in the circle in the middle.

Dreams Really Do Come True

I did this card up for the Peachy Keen Challenge and the My Pink Stamper Challenge.

My pink stampers challenge was to add a bird. I added a little pink bird to go with my scene from the Winter Woodland cartridge.

I used my Peachy Keen face stamps and the layout from there challenge to complete my project.

This was their challenge sketch:

I flipped the square (my princess) and the orange stripe (my tree) to opposite sides of the sketch. The brown strip is my ribbon and the squares are my castle scene in the background. I used the faces I had on the princess and the sun. I'm probably over doing these scene cards but I'm having a really good time with them and they are forcing me to get really creative!

FYI ... It Will Getter Better

So I just got my new Stamping Up FYI stamps from my favorite Stamping Up demonstrator! :) I bought these a while ago and for some reason I find them hilarious. I don't think anyone else (that I know anyway) thinks they are quite as hilarious as I do but they just hit my funny bone and so I had to use them right away.

I was blog hoping a bit and found a few blogs I wanted to play with this week and of course I had to play along with Paper Players since they are (I think they all are) Stamping Up ladies and I have a set of Stamping Up stamps that I am using! I found inspiration in the cheeky little girl and her adorable outfit.

I also had to play along with Fantabulous Cricut because I do love using my cricut and their challenge was none other then faux (or real) stitching which I have an addiction to doing. So perfect challenge! lol

Last but not least was the challenge at Practical Scrappers which was stamps. Which I used obviously and thought it would be fun to play along with them.

I did a card with a similar layout to this last week and I find them really fun little scenes to build and think I may just build more. My card was built around the "It will get better" FYI stamp (hilarious! I just think it's funny to use For Your Information in front of these different sayings) and I thought it would be a fun card to give to a busy mom as a joke one day.

No one is sleeping, the bear is ripped and the bottle is knocked over and the baby is cranky ... I think all mom's have crazy days now and then :).

Puppy Party

I had a bit of time tonight and wanted to create a cute card for my sisters birthday that is coming up soon.

I used the sketch from Mojo Mondays challenge. I really wanted to challenge myself and as per usual I sat there staring at paper and then came up with this idea to use the ribbon as the tall vertical layer in the sketch. I think it turned out ok!

I was able to incorporate the challenge from Practical Scrappers, a new to me challenge which was exciting for me. The ribbon was hard to work with ... I used curling ribbon and getting it to loop and stick was not fun ... but in the end it looks like a puppy all rolled in ribbon and that was the goal. :)

I was also able to incorporate the `Cute and Cuddly` theme from the Pollycraft Monday Challenge blog, also new to me!

So two new excellent blogs to keep an eye on for me and a great sketch to work from so ìt was a successful evening overall.

Sorry the image is a little dark ... I`m not quite sure why! :)

Flower Window

Ok, so I know I've made a window card before! BUT a window card was all I could see when I was finding inspiration from this weeks sketch over at Peachy Keen Stamps. lol

You had to use this colour combo and sketch.

This is what I was inspired to do. Again, I don't have a ton of Peachy Keen stamps but I love using the faces I do have in different ways!

So to try something new and different I scored siding and used my crimper to make curtains which I think turned out cute!

Believe

So there were two challenges today that I actually had colours for so that has been my project for this afternoon.

I really likes the sketch over at Mojo Mondays and so I twisted it a bit but I still think it looks like the original!

I also used the colours from the Colour Throwdown and they worked out really well.

I took a few shots so you could see how the card works. It's sort of an envelope and card in one!

Picked In the top 4!

I'm feeling pretty special this week! I was picked at Always Playing With Paper as "A Cut Above" ... so I'm feeling pretty lucky yet again!

_________________________________________________________

I've also had a chance to work on some crafting this morning and made some little bottle tags with my friend Kelly for a craft night we are doing next week! What I actually like best is we used the cut outs from the punch where the top of the water goes through as part of the decoration on the bottom... I love when you get to use up scraps like that!

This is the inspiration photo:

and here is my project ...

I've added the sour cream shaped treat containers I finished this morning (filled with candies if your curious :) ) and photographed them altogether. Michelle below mentioned a challenge blog that my project would fit (Thanks Michelle!) so I am very excited to find a challenge to enter it into because I didn't think I would. There are lots of great posts and projects on this new (to me :) ) site. Check it out! Off The Wall

Have a great day,
Laurie

Love

This card seems to fit in with two challenges! I was inspired by the colours and rich tones over at Always Playing with Paper and I needed some ideas for a layout and came across a new site (well new to me!) called The Sweetest Thing

Make sure you check out both sites and join in! They are both great!

Thinking of You - Panda Card

I did this up for the Jitterbugin' challenge. I had to sit and stare at a few cartridges and some paper for a good 15 minutes before anything came to me, lol ... but eventually I came up with an idea! I really like the orange, it seems to pop on the black and white theme.

Change of scenery ...

Well I decided to go back to scrapbooking for a few days to try and finish up the album I have been making for my sister (and a duplicate for myself) of our cruise to Alaska. The cruise was over a year ago :( and I had only got about half way. Anyway I was having a home/work weekend (One of the reasons I love summer) and I got a few pages done, finishing her book and getting close on mine. Here are a few of my favorites.

In case it isn't obvious we were being silly in almost every photo! lol In the photos are me, my sister, my friend Kelly and her partner in crime Dave.

We really had a great time and doing up a few pages brought back some great laughs and memories.

I think the last is my favorite ... very clean but bright and cheery.

Reach For The Stars!

Hello All .. Friday night and I am happily crafting with my air conditioner ... although I have come to a conclusion! The air conditioner and glue dots are not friends ;) they lose their stick!

I did this card up for a challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary (CCMC106 - Sketch Challenge)

I am really happy with it and how, although different, it really does use their sketch!

Orange/Grey/Blue/Yellow Milk Jugs

Ok I promise I will try to stop making them for a day or two. TRY. :) I used the same stamps on these and turned it into a set of two (The double set is just two singles back to back). I really love the colours of this and think They just make the cutest gifts. I need to stop making them and maybe find someone to give them to for a bit! lol

Added a little matching card ...

Hello Kitty Color Throwdown Milk Jugs!

Hello All ... Oh it was so hot here today! Well for me it was so hot ... I don't do the heat well.

Anyway tonight I wanted to join the Color Throwdown Challenge (It's the 100th challenge celebration! and so I had to (HAD TOO!) make mini milk jugs, my new obsesion!

I had to use their colour theme, which stumped me at first, I went through my paper 3or 4 times and finally came up with these choices. I think I am a smidge "brighter" then there colours but they said you just had to use them as an example. So I did.

Anyway I found these adorable "sugar" and "100% sweet" stamps that I had and thought they would be perfect for filling the jugs with candy.

Another day where I get to craft ... I'm pretty happy and lucky!

Oh man I am supposed to be in bed ... I need to be up in 7 hours. BUT there I was brushing my teeth and thinking that project needs a matching card ... since it has no recipient yet I went generic on the sentiment but used up my scraps to make this little card!

Just incase your thinking to yourself "why did she make that giant card", I really didn't! lol it only stands about as high as the milk jugs. ;)

Mini Milk Boxes

I'm so glad it's summer and I'm finding a little time almost everyday to work on a project or two!

I saw this project in the beautiful stamping up book and wondered if there would be a cut file for something like this for cricut. AND there was, yay! This lovely woman named Jen (check out her blog) made the file using George and Basic and she even made a carrier. So of course I had to try it myself!

This is my attempt and I am very happy. I think these will make the sweetest gifts!

Thanks so much for the great files and creative work Jen!

I wish I could think of a challenge right now that this would fit! lol

3:00 ... End of my little craft day.

So I finished off the day and it was one of my most productive ... sadly my vacuum and dishes are calling my name so I have to finish up. Craft room is a mess, meh that's not really new. I'm posting one of the frames I worked on last night and the matching card. I got those finished this afternoon. I also finished my other frame but it is drying and can't be put together yet. Alright enough stalling house cleaning here I come. :) Have a great rest of the weekend everyone.

PS. The colours do match ... the flash created an issue or something :).

Wedding Set

I was up until about 2:30 AM last night crafting ... After the glitter card below I was on a roll so I stayed with it. I finished up a wedding card for a friend of mine (above) and worked on a couple of frames that are not quite done yet. I actually get to spend part of this afternoon crafting (I should be working on other stuff but I'm choosing to craft ;) ) so if they get done I will post them too! What a productive weekend so far.

Above is the card (Dream Big), the albulm I made them and the invites I did for them a few weeks ago (60 in total, 60 is an evil number of cards!). Everything was done in her wedding colours ... pink, purple and mustard yellow. I wasn't to sure on the yellow to begin with but I didn't have a ton choice (good choice on the colours in the end Alison!) and I must say in the end the shades kind of work together nicely.

Friday ... add a little glitter.

So this is the issue I run into everytime ... I pick out paper, do a quick scetch, dust of the cricut ... and though go totally mad for an hour trying to make one card! ONE. This little project above started out as a round card .... with lace .... red paper ... and one hour (one whole hour) later I ended up here. So I don't know why my brain does this to me. This card should take no time at all! OF course it didn't once I let go of the idea for the other card and turned the center stamped images into this. Now don't get me wrong I like this card that isn't the issue. The issue is the time lost. I should have made 4 or 5 cards in that amount of time ... Oh well no use really complaining I guess, I still made a card! :)

My Sister

So my sister had a request ... a door hanger of sorts for her work space at work. Apparently everyone had baby photo's up ... so she requested and I crafted a funky little hanging picture frame for her. I'm really happy with the colours and she seemed really happy with it.
